Our School meals are fabulous and are cooked fresh each day on the premises. A varied range of menus is available during each term.
Children can have sandwiches or school meals when you choose. They can also supplement a packed lunch with, say, a yoghurt (which will be debited for when taken). If you do decide to send sandwiches from home, please avoid sending fizzy drinks or drinks with ‘E’ numbers.
Sweets and chocolate biscuits should be resisted in favour of a balanced meal.
The government has issued new guidelines on school food standards. For details and further information, please follow this link to the Government Food Standards website: https://www.gov.uk/school-meals-healthy-eating-standards
Free School Meals
Children who normally have free school meals will have their account credited to pay for their lunch. Please enquire at the school office if you believe you may be eligible for free school meals. All pupils in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to receive a free school lunch as part of the Government’s Universal Infant Free School Meal entitlement.
Until September 2014, pupils who were entitled to a free school meal would have automatically qualified for Pupil Premium funding. However, Pupil Premium will not be available to all Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children’s parents even though they can receive a free meal under the UIFSM scheme. Parents on a low income and who meet certain criteria are still encouraged to register so that your child receives their Pupil Premium entitlement. Please talk to us, confidentially, in school if you would like more information about how to apply.
As children collect their lunch, the accounts of those who are required to pay for their lunch are debited by the kitchen staff. A reminder for further payment will be sent when the account runs down. Children will not be provided with a meal without payment.
Lunch Time Supervision
Lunchtime supervisors are employed in the school to help children with their lunch and supervise them inside and outside the building when they have finished eating. They will help children organise games and use the play spaces and equipment.
